‘It’s a sideshow’: Bynum addresses allegations she ignored sexual assault claims
1 min read
Oregon lawmaker and Congressional District 5 candidate, Janelle Bynum, says allegations against her, that were leaked to the media at the height of a heated political campaign against incumbent Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer, are nothing but a smear campaign.
The claims against her allege that she tried to cover up allegations of sexual harassment and assault against a former campaign staff member.
Bynum claims she forwarded allegations to Future PAC, a political action committee that funds Oregon Democrats’ legislative campaigns. The PAC hires all campaign staff, and union regulations require that disciplinary actions come from the PAC not the candidate.
