A storm warning was in effect for the Central Oregon Coast and the Coastal Range over the weekend of February 22nd and 23rd, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to the area.
On the evening of February 22nd, a Lincoln City Police Department officer was driving a patrol vehicle on Highway 101 when a large tree fell across the road, landing on top of the patrol car. The officer sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The patrol vehicle suffered significant damage to its windshield, roof, and A-pillars, LCPD said.
An oncoming vehicle also encountered the fallen tree on the highway, but only minimal damage was reported to the second vehicle.
