Portland city councilors supportive of plan to speed up housing but Novick has concern

The governor and the mayor of Portland say they want to cut some red tape for housing developers to speed up the process of housing creation. They want to waive certain fees on developers to make it easier to build. The fees are called ‘system development charges.’

Developers pay them for a project’s impact on things like roads, parks, and the sewer system. Most councilors say this is a great way to speed up housing development.
