Fact-checking claims made by Portland’s mayor about crime

Mayor Keith Wilson, during his state of the city address on Friday, urged residents to visit downtown more frequently, asserting that crime rates have decreased.
Mayor Wilson said homicides across the city are half of what they were year-over-year.
According to data from Portland Police, KATU found that claim to be true.
