KYRON HORMAN: Investigators renew effort to find missing Portland boy 15 years after disappearance

It’s been nearly 15 years since Kyron Horman was last seen at an elementary school in Northwest Portland. On Friday, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said it is renewing efforts toward "pursuing justice" in the case, and will work with other agencies to reevaluate newly digitized case files.

Then seven years old, Kyron went missing from Skyline Elementary School in Northwest Portland on June 4, 2010. No one has ever been charged in the case.

The sheriff’s office said it has spent the past year working with Gresham Police detectives to "digitize and reorganize the entire case," which includes scanning thousands of pieces of evidence.

Once the case is digitized, the sheriff’s office said the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) will reevaluate the files. According to the sheriff’s office, the BAU uses behavioral and psychological analysis to pore over past statements and evidence. They will ultimately then give investigators suggestions "based on patterns from similar historic and current cases nationwide."
