Portland mayor’s budget plan sparks concern over financial stability over one-time funding concerns
2 min read
As Portland grapples with a nearly $100 million budget shortfall, Mayor Keith Wilson’s proposed budget has sparked concern among city leaders.
Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney criticized the mayor’s plan, which relies on one-time funds that will not be available next year.
"There are over 100 million dollars of 110 funds still in this budget, which means that we are kicking the can on a lot of cuts to next year. That concerns me. I don’t know if Council will be able to dig us out of that, but it’s certainly something that I’ll be looking at over the coming weeks," said Pirtle-Guiney.
