2 min read
More and more Oregonians are taking on second jobs, according to a report recently released by the Oregon Employment Department.
Oregon’s rate of moonlighters has trended higher than the national average for the past three decades, and the report shows it’s on the rise after a downward trend that began in 1995.
After the pandemic recession, Oregonians began taking on second jobs, increasing the moonlighting rate from 4.8% in 2022 to 5.8% in 2023 and a whopping 6% in 2024. That is the highest it has been in over a decade.
We are asking some of those 6% of Oregonians to tell us about their jobs and what is motivating them to take on extra shifts.
