Real ID enforcement begins at airports nationwide, TSA offers some leniency for now

As the enforcement deadline for the new Real ID requirement at airports nationwide takes effect today, travelers without a Real ID, passport, or military ID may face longer security lines.

However, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering some leniency, at least for now.

Officials have stated that while the TSA will not turn anyone away today, travelers without the necessary identification should allow extra time to get through security.

The TSA will have staff available to guide passengers through the process, and some airports will provide separate lines for those lacking Real ID or other documentation.

Despite the potential inconvenience, the TSA emphasized the importance of the security measure.
