Daring duckling rescue on I-5 as Washington trooper, WSDOT use bin lid to relocate feathered family
2 min read
A Washington State Patrol trooper went above and beyond the call of duty, helping rescue some ducklings from the media of Interstate 5 in Tacoma.
The trooper got creative and used the lid of a storage bin to safely carry the three ducklings across the highway, while an employee of the Washington State Department of Transportation watched for traffic.
The ducklings’ mother was anxiously waiting for them, and the family had a safe and happy reunion.
"Thanks to WSDOT and our trooper, this momma duck and her "duck-linquents" were able to get off the freeway safely," Washington State Patrol said in a post about the encounter online, and it has garnered thousands of views.
